Scott Rigsby had to make some adjustments in his life when he decided to build himself into an athlete who would compete in Full Marathons, Half Ironmans, or International Distance Triathlons. He had to overcome battles with depression, with prescription painkillers, and with self-doubt. But he did it, earning himself a spot on the 2006 USA Triathlon team, and setting world records for a double-below-the-knee amputee. Oh, right-that was another adjustment Scott had to make: both of his legs were amputated below the knee when he was eighteen years old, the result of a horrific car accident in which he was dragged for 300 feet beneath a three-ton truck trailer. Twenty-six surgeries later-and decades of doctor and hospital visits, fear and uncertainty about his future-Scott turned it around and is out there providing inspiration for physically challenged and able-bodied athletes alike.
