Introducing long-time Headsweats fan and Entrepreneur, Hilary Topper, on Small Business Saturday!
Today is Small Business Saturday! It’s a great day to support small businesses you love that are run and owned by people in your community, and across the world.
There are currently 33.2 Million small businesses in the United States*. Small businesses generated 12.9 million new jobs over the past 25 years, accounting for two out of every three jobs added to our economy**. The American Dream is to have a passion you are able to turn into a career, and the majority of small businesses started by someone believing in themselves and their mission enough to share it and pursue it professionally.
Believe it or not, Headsweats is still considered a small business and we are so grateful for our mighty team of sales, marketing, product support, customer service and more, located all over the world! However, today, we want to spotlight another small business that we’ve come to know and love.
Hilary JM Topper, MPA, is a 30-year public relations veteran. She runs both HJMT Public Relations Inc., a full-service public relations and social media agency, and HJMT Media Company, where she curates two blogs and a podcast. In her spare time, she trains for endurance events, including triathlons. She is a level 1 USA certified coach, a RRCA Certified running coach, and a certified personal trainer. She runs an international triathlon team, WeREndurance, and she has a local running club where she meets weekly with her members. Hilary lives on Long Island with her family.
We’re fortunate to have Hilary on our team as well, as a long-time avid fan of Headsweats. Her story is inspiring, and she more recently turned it into a book titled: “From Couch Potato to Endurance Athlete: A Portrait of a Non-Athletic Athlete”. Here is what Hilary’s book is about in her own words.
~
The book is a memoir about the last ten years of my life and although it's about me, it's actually written for you. You see, it's a book about being pushed down and bouncing back up over and over again in business, in life, and in endurance sports.
From Couch Potato to Endurance Athlete - A Portrait of a Non-Athletic Triathlete, will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. It is available in hard copy and an audiobook.
When you finish the book, you will be inspired and motivated to do something out of your wheelhouse.
Although it may be a memoir, it's a self-help book to help you thrive.
~
Another super cool fact about Hilary’s new book, she’s wearing Headsweats gear in virtually every picture! As displayed below, Hilary has quite a Headsweats collection. :)
Recently, Hilary and her team were slated to continue their book tour here in our Headsweats Headquarters state of Colorado. Unfortunately, she was in a significant car accident and had to reschedule her tour dates to spend some healing time at home. We are so happy to report, first and foremost, that Hilary is recovering well without major complications. Secondly, she has rescheduled her Colorado book tour dates for mid-February! We look forward to welcoming Hilary to Colorado. Stay tuned for more information about her specific book tour dates, and a national giveaway we’ll be doing in conjunction with her arrival in Colorado!
Aa an entrepreneur, and a dedicated athlete, we are inspired by Hilary and her journey. If you or someone in your life needs help believing that they, too, can be a triathlete from any age or fitness level, we encourage you to consider purchasing Hilary’s book and supporting her small business that she has crafted over the last decade or more. Experience and dedication are valuable teachers, and Hilary has a PhD in both. :)
With the holidays fast approaching, we asked Hilary about her favorite Headsweats!
“I absolutely love the new styles on the Headsweats website,” said Topper. “The Running Hat – Wavy Race hat is my favorite and I plan on wearing that one for many of my runs. In the summer months, I’ll stick with the Supervisor with the large new logo. I love the colors and they will go perfectly with my running outfits. For the winter, I plan on getting the Podium Hat/Groomer in Tangerine. I just love that color and the material of the cap will keep my head warm!”
We know we're biased, but Hilary has GREAT taste! Take some time to learn more about Hilary and follow her on social media!
